Conflict Transformation – Time Variable

TransformationConflict, particularly long-standing conflict, severely erodes the service and energy capacity of an individual, group or organization and prevents the realization of strategic goals and bottom line profits. Unless the existing situation can be transformed the old patterns will soon reinstate themselves regardless of the initial effectiveness of a "conflict resolution" intervention.

QTI has specific expertise in moving beyond conflict resolution to conflict transformation. The process itself is tailored to the unique needs of the individual, group, or organization in conflict. It is based on (and reinforced by experience) the belief that conflict arises when there is a basic disconnection on one - or all levels – of human experience through body, mind, heart or spirit.

Conflict transformation is a process that provides a "whole person" understanding and experience that moves the individual or group back into balance and connection.

For example:

QTI works with professional or personal "couples" or groups who get along so poorly that they create an uncomfortable and possibly toxic environment for their colleagues, supervisors, customers or family relationships. These relationships are often the focus of conversation in an office or home and take up valuable energy and time.

In the case of a workplace conflict, these situations are not easily dealt with by Supervisors, HR Representatives or Shop Stewards because they may not be perceived as neutral by the parties or because they have been involved previously without success.

When the participants themselves are interested in some kind of resolution, QTI is often successful by creating a neutral and unbiased environment in which to explore the issues and build compromise.

We start by introducing each individual to their own Insights Profile and helping them to understand their own perceptions and preferences as well as those of others. Very often those in conflict are opposite types.

QTI uses various custom-designed models that assist in clarifying and moving through the conflict. Expectations are carefully managed and ground rules clearly defined thus creating a safe environment in which to hold a gently managed discussion. In most cases an informed truce with equal commitment to subsequent rules of conduct can be arrived at within two days.
